Undergraduate Internship in Kinesiology
The UCF Wellness Research Center (WRC) and Employee Gym serves as a wellness center for UCF employees, as well as a facility where training studies take place as part of research projects within the UCF Institute of Exercise Physiology & Rehabilitation Science.
The WRC and Employee Gym is offering opportunities for undergraduate Kinesiology students at UCF to complete their Internship in Kinesiology for the Fall 2023 semester. 120 hour (8 hours per week), 240 hour (16 hours per week), and 360 hour (24 hours per week) internships are available. Interns will gain experience in operation of a wellness facility. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Open and Close the WRC and Employee Gym in accordance with operating hours
- Supervise the gym floor and man the reception desk
- Interact with UCF faculty and Staff using the WRC facility
- Enroll new members in the facility
- Clean and maintain exercise equipment and the WRC facility
- Instruct/educate members on optimal nutritional and exercise practices
- Administer fitness assessments as needed
- Administer assessments in conjunction with ongoing research studies in the WRC Facility as needed
- Develop instructional/educational materials and video content for the WRC facility and website
Students must be eligible to complete the internship per their advisor.
The application deadline for the WRC & Employee Gym internship is 7/7/2023. The deadline to enroll in the internship portal is 7/12/2023. All paperwork must be submitted in the internship portal by 7/19/2023.
CPR/AED certification is not required at the time of application, however all required CPR/AED training must be completed by the 7/19/2023 deadline. Those with existing CPR/AED certification that expires prior to completion of internship (December 8th) will need to be renew their certification by the 7/19/2023 deadline. Applicants should state the current status of CPR/AED certification in their resume at the time of application.
